Seventy-five researchers and changemakers from more than a dozen countries came together to address pressing challenges related to the information environment in the Global South, particularly in Africa.

The Accelerator surveyed scholars and professionals to better understand the barriers they encounter when accessing and analyzing large datasets related to human behavior in online environments.

On January 24, 2025, Tooling Together will convene researchers, practitioners, and technologists to advance research on the information environment through collaborative tool development. The application to present or attend is now open.

The Accelerator is developing typical activity datasets, an image processing pipeline, and a screenshot research tool to address current barriers throughout the research process.

The Accelerator was created to build critical research infrastructure, grounded in a commitment to global collaboration, transparency, nonpartisanship, and continuous improvement. We look forward to sharing updates and insights from our work on this blog.
